Closest Metro: It's easiest to bus or taxi here. It will cost around 12 Euros in the taxi from city center, or take a bus from Placa Catalunya for less than 2 Euro. Ask at the Placa Catalunya Information Center for which bus number to catch.
A trip to the antique Tibidabo Amusement Park will give you the most incredible view of Barcelona city. The park is situated at the highest point of the city. From it you can see the entire city, its grid layout and famous buildings sticking out, stretching all the way out to the sea. The Ferris wheel is my favourite attraction; a ride that lifts you up to see this amazing view. The Ferris wheel is located in the first area of the park, an area which allows you to pay for one ride at a time (around 2 Euros), and enjoy the scenery. Here, there is also the most beautiful antique double-decker carousel that I have ever seen. After this point however, you need to buy an entry pass to enter the rest of the park and ride the attractions.
I think it's worth visiting just for one turn on the Ferris wheel but if you have the time and money, the rest of the attractions are really great and fun for families. There is only one really scary ride for thrill seekers but the rest are just as fun! The park is open a few late nights during the week also - seeing the city at sunset here is magnificent and great for photos.
