How to make an indoor/outdoor water fountain
A water fountain gives any room or garden a touch of elegance and beauty. Fountain designs vary widely, and the sort of pump you'd use depends on how tall your fountain is and the sound you want to generate; a pump with a higher gph (gallons per hour) rating will yield a more forceful and "splashier" fountain (often used for taller fountains), whereas a lower gph works better for shorter fountains, delivering a gentle "gurgling" noise. You have a lot of options at your disposal, so get creative with your troughs and spouts! Below, we will outline the steps necessary for making a simple indoor/outdoor custom fountain.

Material list
1. A terra cotta style planter or large designer bowl (usually plastic): a large size for a trough is preferred so that you will have room to arrange the optimal design for your fountain.
2. Submersible water pump (66 gph is recommended for a 12" tall fountain, 120 gph for a 24" fountain… ask an expert which pump you should use for your desired height and sound effect)
3. Plastic tubing (length depends on how tall you want your fountain to be)
4. River pebbles or other types of rock, succulent plants, etc. for decoration
5. A few decorative pieces that will be the highlight of the fountain. These can easily be found at a local arts and crafts store and will make your fountain options limitless.
6. A hot glue gun
7. Plant life that will blend in well with both your garden area and your fountain's theme.
