How to make a stencil platter

Pour on resin

Step 3. Prepare the resin
You can now coat the platter with resin, which gives the platter a high-gloss look. As this is a large platter you will need at least 4oz (or 120ml) of resin mix. Once resin is mixed as per manufacturer's instructions, place platter on an old cake tin (or similar) so it will be sitting off the ground. As you will have excess resin overflow, make sure the whole thing is sitting on some sort of disposable material.

Spread resin

Step 4.
Put on your gloves. Now pour the resin into center of the platter and with your gloved hands, move the resin outwards to cover the whole top of the platter. You will have to push the resin completely over the edges to make sure the top is completely covered. You can quickly wipe away the excess drips with your gloved hand. Note that we did not coat the underneath of the platter but that's a personal choice.

Blow out resin bubbles

Step 5. Bubbles and drips
For the next hour or so, watch for bubbles appearing which you can remove by blowing gently on them through a straw. Also watch out for drips over the edge of your platter and wipe them away. This attention to detail is important for completing the project successfully.
