How to make a stencil platter

Undercoat platter

Step 1. Undercoat the platter
Undercoat the platter by giving it two coats of white acrylic paint. This not only primes the wood but becomes a backdrop color. Leave to dry between coats as per instructions from paint manufacturer.

Step 2. Paint the platter
Place the platter on some paper -preferably outside - as we are using spray paint. Cover the top of the platter with a piece of lace fabric or lace paper. With your chosen color, spray paint over the whole thing in a sweeping motion. Less is more with this stencil, as we don't want the paint to bleed into the lace pattern. Remove the lace immediately after sprayingto reveal the lace pattern. Leave to dry.
