I have visited Barcelona twice now, as I just love this city and it's ways.
If you are planning a trip to Spain, I recommend including Barcelona: it's an energetic city alive with art, culture, history, diverse architecture,
festivals aplenty and friendly people. Like any city, the more time you spend the better you really get to know it but if you are visiting for a brief time,
I have started to make a list of my favourite things to see and do that I am sure would please anyone. I will keep adding more as I find the time, and as I stumble across new places.

Mercat Dels Encants
Directions: Placa de les Glories Catalanes, C. Dos de Maig, 186 Hours: Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat from 8:30AM Closest Metro: Glories (Red Line)
This is Barcelona's largest flea market! It has EVERYTHING you could imagine.
New and old - from clothes to antiques to power tools.
You could easily spend many hours here sifting through the stuff that vendors have poured out in front of them,
and you are bound to find something crazy you love for yourself or to buy as a unique gift.
The earlier you get there the better to grab the bargains, and they start to close up in the afternoon, some days earlier than others.
And remember: this is a Barcelona market, which means you are expected to bargain with them!
