Step 6. We decided to add some simple wording on the front of our key and letter holder using masking tape to help set it out. We decided to spell the word 'letters' so we evenly measured out and marked (lightly with pencil) 14 spaces for the word, i.e. allowing for one blank space between each letter. You can do it anyway you like.
Now for each letter, cut small lengths of masking tape to create each part of the letter. Other methods to try include: using a stencil to create the word and use a masking liquid to paint in each letter, or applying sticker letters (as long as they can be peeled off again later without peeling off any paint).
Step 7. Now, apply a small amount of copper paint onto a damp sponge and dab it over the areas needed: mainly around the lettering and the edges. In our case we covered quite a bit, even though we used only a tiny bit of paint.
Step 8. When dry, remove the masking tape and reveal your word which also will clearly show the layering of paint.
Step 9. Finally, screw in the hooks for hanging the keys.
