Create an aged look on timber

Paint on second coat

Second coat of paint

Step 1. Give the new letter holder a quick undercoat and allow to dry.

Step 2. Apply a second coat using the darker brown paint and allow to dry.

Step 3. Generously coat with a crackle medium. Be sure to read and follow manufacturer's instructions.

Step 4. Then give it a coat of the bright green. After a while you will notice cracks appearing in the green paintwork and the darker color from the second coat of paint will start to show as well. Allow to dry.

Step 5. Now take your light grade sandpaper and sand very roughly all over the letter holder. This will give a fantastic aged look to the project. (Note: alternatively you could completely leave out the crackle medium and use only the sanding method to create an aged effect.)
